Mountain Vista Health Park
Serving the community since 1980
A Warm Embrace: Our Story of Elderly Care
More than 35 years ago, the citizens of Denton saw a need for continued healthcare services after the local clinic closed. The communities of southeastern Davidson County were in need of something to fill this gap. A search committee recruited a husband and wife medical team, Drs. Mangundayao, to serve the community. At the same time, a group of community members led by Reverend H.M. Baker suggested the addition of a nursing home as part of the needed healthcare services. Mountain Vista Health Park opened on February 4, 1980.
Having served hundreds of seniors since its inception, Mountain Vista Health Park has become a focal point for the efforts of community leaders, Denton citizens and the surrounding area. Mountain Vista meets the needs of a wide range of seniors through Long Term Skilled Nursing as well as short-term rehabilitation known as “Transitional Rehab”. In addition to meeting the skilled nursing needs of the community, assisted living services are also offered to broaden the scope of individuals that we can care for.
Structured as a “non-profit” organization, Mountain Vista Health Park is led by a Board of Directors that includes the caring and involved citizens of the greater Denton community. The Board oversees the operations of the facility and continues to look towards meeting the needs of current and future generations in our community. In early 2017, the Board identified a growing need for a hospitality-driven experience for Transitional Rehab patients. These patients have recently been hospitalized and are in need of post-hospital rehabilitation services before they can return back home as safely and as quickly as possible. Construction on a new Transitional Rehab wing, which provides additional private rooms and an expanded rehab gym. With the completion of this wing, Mountain Vista Health Park now offers state-of-the-art facilities and “best of class” clinical services.
